You’ve sat down with your cup of tea, ready for an afternoon of learning, but just as soon as you’ve started, you’ve already hit a roadblock. The course won’t launch!
It used to be that the most likely reason for a course not launching correctly is that it was using the Flash plugin, which used to be quite common when opening a SCORM 1.2 course from our platform.
We are seeing practically no Flash-based courses being launched following its withdrawal in 2020, so we’ve updated this guide accordingly. If you are experiencing any issues with launching Flash-based content, then we recommend that you question this with your course content provider.
If you are trying to launch a Scorm course and it’s just not launching:
… then there is a very likely cause – your course has recently been updated by your content team.
Frustratingly, your colleagues might not be having any issues with this course - this is because they are probably launching it for the first time.
The inner workings of a Scorm course are largely down to the product your courses were created with. What happens is that the data stored in the learning platform will only be compatible with the version of the course that created it.
When a course is overwritten with a replacement version, the data that the updated course is replaced with is unlikely to be compatible with the new version of the course.
When this happens you have no option other than to refresh this course for the learner who cannot access the course.
These guides might prove useful as a next step in understanding how Scorm courses are overwritten and how to refresh a learner for a course:
