To start building your video page, select the blue pen icon next to it.
Enter a Page Title (in the course, this appears at the very top of the screen after the item name).
You also have the option to include introduction and summary text, or you can leave these blank and the video will just appear on its own. If you don’t want any intro/summary, then leave the Introduction Heading, Introduction, Summary Heading and Summary all blank. Or pick and mix as you want.
If you do add an introduction, which is always useful to let the learner know what your video is about (set it up, let them know what to look out for, etc), a continue button appears before the video. Adding a summary helps consolidate learning from the video - a quick recap afterwards before moving on.
You will need to upload your video onto Vimeo first. After it’s been uploaded, copy the unique video URL and paste it into the Vimeo Asset Ref box. Please note: you need to set up the privacy and presets on Vimeo like this:
If your learners are likely to have problems playing a video hosted on Vimeo (the site may be blocked by a firewall for example), you should type in here a location for a fallback video – this would most likely be on an internal network.
It’s also worth mentioning here that with fallback videos, you need to make sure that the fallback location you enter doesn’t contain any spaces or special characters, as this may cause problems with loading the video later on. Always play it safe when it comes to naming videos!
Note: the Vimeo reference should still be entered as this would be the default video accessed if learning outside of the work environment or if no blocks are in place.
