Why would you do that?
So, you’ve created and deployed a course and it’s received rave reviews! Some of the feedback you’ve had is “this is great, and it would be good for our international partners to see this. However, they have different rules so could you just tweak what you’ve done just for them?”
One way would be to build them a new course from scratch – great if you’ve developed a course script and you don’t mind all that copying and pasting again.
The alternative is to take a copy of the current course and re-create it into a new course (with a new course code to keep it unique) and then you just need to edit that new course.
How to duplicate your course
The first thing to mention is that you can only duplicate online courses that have been created on your learning platform using Easy Content Builder. Therefore, you won’t find an option to duplicate:
Scorm 1.2 content
Offline content created using Easy Content Builder (these are really quick to create from scratch anyway)
Generic Upskill People content purchased under license!
From your Courses menu, search for your online ECB course and pick the Duplicate option from the 3 dots:
Give your new course a relevant title and a unique course code. Those guys at Upskill People really have thought of everything – you can choose which version of the selected course you’d like to duplicate either the most recent published version or the draft you’ve been working on. Press Create when you’re done:
A couple of things to be aware of
Your new course will be set as inactive because it’s not been published yet:
Your course version will start again at V1. Regardless of the previous published version, or the draft you were working on when you duplicated the course, we’ll reset your version number as if it were a new course (because it is):
Top tip: Use this duplicate feature to create similar courses, so make your new course code relevant to the old course as well as the new course, so that it’s obvious to your fellow ECB course creators.
